CANVAS is oriented towards educational work in the field of strategic nonviolent conflict.
We are committed to spreading knowledge to future generations of activists and students alike in order to keep the spirit of nonviolence, begun by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., alive and well in our ever-complicated and tumultuous world.

CANVAS offers internships all year round. Internships can last anywhere between 6 weeks and 6 months, working between 20 and 40 hours per week depending on the intern’s needs.
CANVAS’s internship supervisor supports the interns for the entire duration of their work. The interns joining the team on-the-ground in Belgrade are offered assistance with securing housing, local transportation, visas, and translation. To make the induction to CANVAS smooth, we can put you in contact with past and present interns.
CANVAS doesn’t provide a salary for interns, but funding may be available from your university.
We can recommend joining us in Belgrade in order to benefit from integrating into the team and gaining cultural experience. As Serbia’s capital, Belgrade offers music, art, history, outdoor activities and opportunities to travel. English is widely spoken, so language barriers should not pose a major obstacle. Its central location makes travel across the Balkans accessible. You can learn so much from the culture, hospitality and history of Serbia and the Balkans.
