Félix Maradiaga is a prominent figure in Central America renowned for his expertise in nonviolent resistance and promoting democracy. He is one of the foremost voices within the Nicaraguan democratic opposition. Currently, Maradiaga serves as the President of the Foundation for the Freedom of Nicaragua. He has spearheaded the international campaign EndArbitraryDetention.org to shed light on the plight of political prisoners around the globe. He received the Geneva Summit Courage Award and the Sergei Magnitsky Human Rights Award.
